My group is focused to study the effects of the posttranslational modification mediated by the Small Ubiquitin Modifier, SUMO, to skeletal muscle proteins.
We have identified several muscle proteins which the conjugation with SUMO influences their cell localisation, activity and protein-protein interaction.
Our aims are to characterise how SUMO influences the muscle proteins features during normal muscle activity and how the SUMO network is altered in skeletal muscle diseases.
We use cellular and molecular biology, proteomic, confocal microscope and cell culture approaches, including study of SUMO transgenic mice.
