We are seeking a highly motivated master or ExJobb student to work on a Project studying the role of a gene that is highly overexpressed in the MOLT4-cells (acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell line) with acquired resistance to thiopurines (6-mercaptopurine and 6-thioguanine). This project will use small interfering RNA, cDNA transfection in combination with other cell and molecular biology techniques to study the role of the overexpressed gene in cell proliferation and cell survival. We hope this Project will provide sufficient evidence for importance of the gene in response to the thiopurines. This work will be conducted at the department of Clinical pharmacology, Karolinska Institutet (Huddinge or Solna).

Applicants must be highly motivated, creative and capable of both independent research and the ability to work in a team. Applicants should be proficient in English and have good communication skills, both verbal and written. An ideal applicant would have a background in one of the following; cell biology, pharmacology, biotechnology or bioengineering. To express interest send your curriculum vitae, with 2 to 3 references, and a cover letter describing your background and interest in the project to Alan Fotoohi (Alan.Fotoohi@ki.se).
