Our lab has several ongoing projects to investigate mechanisms and treatments in chronic kidney disease. Our lab is focused on experimental models of chronic kidney disease although some studies are carried out on patient material.

Our projects investigates blood vessel function, blood vessel density and fibrotic areas in kidneys from genetically modified mice, for example knockout of Tie2 in endothelial cells. Mice are subjected to experimental kidney disease, for example ischemia/reperfusion or diabetes, before analysis.

Methods to study this are immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging and image analysis for different markers. Other methods used in the lab includs RNA preparation and real time PCR to look at gene expression of endothelial and fibrotic markers.
