What impacts how much human fat cells or adipocytes grow in the fat tissue and thereby contribute to obesity? We work with adipocyte spheroids, a unique cell culture model that we use to test what cell signalling impacts the differentiation and enlargement of human adipocytes, using a combination of gene targeting, nutrient supplementation and small compound inhibitors. The project therefore teatches the student an array of experimental techniques at the forefront of research and offers a great chance to work in a young and dynamic research team!
